I’m a strong believer that every party needs some sweet treats, and what better way to kick off a summer celebration than with a Red, White & Blue cake? A friend of my father’s had a big bash this past weekend, so I decided to make a cake for them to add to the festivities.
I made a standard 2 tier cake – I covered the bottom in white fondant, and the top tier in blue. I stacked them and then added a few red stripes to the bottom, and some white stars to the top. (After looking at it, I think it needs more red stripes, but it was a free cake beggars can’t be choosers, right? ….I also ran out of red fondant, so I don’t think it’s that big of deal. ha ha ha) But the thing I love most about this cake is that I think I came up with a great go-to Yellow Vanilla Cake recipe. Sometime in the future, I might start posting some recipes for you, because I’m coming across some really good ones.
On the menu for this Sugar Shindig: A 2 tiered Yellow Vanilla Cake with Fresh Lemon and Cream Cheese filling, covered in Vanilla Italian Buttercream and Marshmallow Fondant.
